This page is full of names. We've probably missed some, so sorry if we have- but thanks.
Developers
EVE Metrics is developed by Ix Forres and Makurid. We don't get paid, we don't work for CCP, and we do this because we enjoy doing it and want to give something back to the awesome community of EVE Online.
We are supported and influenced by the hundreds of third party developers who choose, as we do, to write applications and libraries for EVE Online. We can't list everyone, but there's a few people we'd like to mention especially.
- Entity, for building Reverence
- TTimo, for building most of our new uploader
- Rettic, for his graphic and web design contributions to the site
- Salvis, for his work on the previous uploader
- Lisa Seeyle, for getting Ix into Ruby
- Mithaldu, who has contributed equations and ideas to the EVE Metrics APIs
- The developers of EVE Online, for creating something incredible
- CCP Garthagk for giving birth to EVE Online's API
- The Ruby and Python communities for their incredible support, tools and libraries
Community
We don't write these tools to benefit ourselves. We build applications like EVE Metrics, ISKsense and accVIEW to give something back to the community. Hundreds of pilots contribute to our projects by providing feedback, bug reports, suggestions. Many more use our apps, knowingly or not.
Technologies and Technical Details
EVE Metrics is a Ruby on Rails web application using PostgreSQL and Redis as data stores.
We host ourselves on a dedicated machine located in a datacenter in London Docklands. The machine we run on is a quad-core Intel machine with 8 gigabytes of RAM, two 7,200 RPM hard disks and a 10,000 RPM hard disk for primary storage.
We use a vast array of libraries and tools to do our jobs and run the site. The site itself is hosted on Ubuntu Server, using nginx and unicorn. We use SSL certificates provided by StartSSL.
We use AMQP for both internal messaging and syndication of our upload data to subscribers around the world. We use RabbitMQ as a message broker and use our publicly released tool Rabbitcage for authentication.
Javascript on the site uses the jQuery library.
All of the above changes on a fairly regular basis.
